Hi friends!

I’m Lisa.

Copywriter.

Media whiz.

General word nerd.

Let me introduce myself.

Picture of copywriter Lisa Almond. She has brown hair and wears sunglasses signifying she is happy to be writing copy.

I always knew I’d be a writer.

I won a gold award for my BTN report on the Thredbo landslide in year 5 and I’ve never looked back.

My teacher (shout out to Mrs Hopkins if she’s reading) told me I could “definitely have a career as a writer” if I wanted.

I’m not sure she envisaged that to mean one of my offerings as a professional writer being a script services for a mobile video sharing app, TikTok, but hey, here we are.

Words have always been my forever job.

I remember my first byline - product reviews in a parenting magazine. It reminded me of the first time I went sky diving.

Same rush, equal amount of screaming, and complete and utter fear of what lay ahead.

Fortunately I landed on my feet, both in my career and following my dive.

I’ve published thousands of words since then and I still get the same rush.

These days, my strategy is much less ‘survive this dive and plan for the weekend’ and a whole lot more ‘survive this Google update and plan for more customer conversions’.

My passion is working with people who love their products and services. If you love your products it makes it easy for me to love your product and find the right way to market it to your customers.

There are some freakin’ awesome things out there these days and I love being able to be a part of getting the word out. (Pun absolutely intended).

I use words to create magic.

I’m one of those people who does all the jobs.

Copywriting - Content writing - Communication and Marketing Strategy - Media training - Media Consulting - Lion tamer (wait, sorry this one is just at home. Disregard.)

See. All the things.

The one thing they all have in common.

Words.

Whether I’m working a media strategy for a government agency, or I’m writing a branded content blog, crafting a landing page for a killer new product, or a creating a cheeky About Us page for a brazen new brand.

They all need words.

I write the right words.

My words have been published in major media publications like news.com.au, Sydney Morning Herald and nine.com.au.

I’ve worked with a tonne of brands to write some super smooth native content for places like Mamamia.

It’s always super fun to see my name on a big name publications I really get those warm-hug feels when I work with businesses to overhaul copy that’s dull and drab into something dazzling that’s bright and bouncy.

When I’m not writing the words I’m talking the strategy.

With copy comes comms.

Communication is the key.

And I’ve found the combination to the lock.

Do you have any fancy qualifications and experience?

You might be surprised to hear there isn’t actually a copywriting degree.

Shocking, I know.

But to answer your question, I do have qualifications, but I wouldn’t call them fancy. Some of them are currently in a box in my garage. I should really get them out; the frames were so expensive.

I’m a current member of, and endorsed by, Kate Toon’s Clever Copywriting School. Here’s a pretty little logo to say so:

I have a degree in Communications and Media with a double major in Journalism and Marketing. This is the one in my garage.

I have a Graduate Certificate in Arts with a major in Writing. I think this one is in my wardrobe.

I’ve done a bunch of courses through Australian Writers’ Centre.

I’ve worked as a media advisor for not one but three different NSW Government agencies. Checked my LinkedIn HERE for details on those.

I also listen to random podcasts that talk about linguistics, copywriting and fancy word stuff (this is a lie, I listen to crime podcasts).

I’m a storyteller with a craving for connection.

If you’re after the proof I can write I urge you to think beyond the dusty expensive frame hiding behind my paddle board in the garage.

Firstly, read my website. I wrote it.

Once you’ve done that, come have a chat with me about what I can do for your business. Studying the communications and media world over the years has given me a really good foundation but actually getting to know my clients and really representing their values and their voice - that, friends, is where the writing magic is born.

“Lisa, you sound like the perfect copywriter or consultant for my business.”
